Trump and the Russia investigation: What to know

President Trump and the Kremlin have denied allegations that Russia and the Trump campaign colluded in the 2016 presidential election – but the probe into suspicions of Russian meddling is forging ahead.

Manafort has continued to maintain his innocence, most recently pleading not guilty to charges including tax evasion and bank fraud in federal court on March 8.

Additionally, George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser to Trump’s campaign, pleaded guilty in 2017 to making false statements to the FBI about his connections with Russian officials.

Richard Pinedo, a California man who sold bank accounts to Russians meddling in the election, pleaded guilty in February 2018 to using stolen identities to set up the accounts.

Additionally, 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities were indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly interfering in the election.
