U.S. Military, DHS Conduct Training Exercises Ahead of Caravan Migrants

In preparation, OFO officers and military personnel from the DOD began conducting training exercises on November 14, according to CBP officials.

The operation also provides for training exercises to prepare CBP and DOD personnel for the potential arrival of thousands of Central American caravan migrants.

Tucson and Yuma Sector Border Patrol officials report ever-increasing numbers of migrants illegally crossing the border despite the fact that none of the caravan migrants have made their way to this part of the border.

In October, Yuma Sector officials reported the apprehension of 26,244 migrants including 14,554 Family Unit Aliens (FMUA) and 5,424 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC).

Tucson Sector officials reported 52,172 migrants apprehended including 4,954 FMUAs and 5,023 UACs.
